Description

Dental Implants

The absence of one or more teeth generates aesthetic problems but also important problems related to occlusion and chewing, in some cases strongly changing the nutrition of the person without teeth, not allowing them to eat what they prefer by limiting their diet in fairly soft foods. Dental implantology represents the best solution for these problems, giving you fixed, strong teeth and, thanks to the use of the latest materials, also with an absolutely natural aesthetic appearance.

Thanks to the progress made in the field of dental implantology, it is no longer necessary to include intact teeth to replace missing teeth, nor to apply dentures or any other removable artefact.

Placement of an implant.

Dental implants are generally inserted into the bone bases surgically under local anesthesia, with a very high success rate.

Contrary to what one might think, dental implant surgery is neither painful nor expensive.

According to the need, it is possible to insert one or more implants, to replace a single tooth, several teeth (partial denture) or all the teeth of the arch (full denture).

The fixation of the implant, after it is inserted and osseointegrated into the bone base, will have the function of an artificial root, being able to support a single capsule or a bridge, or it can act as an anchor for the dental elements of an arch whole.

Ultimately, implantology serves to restore aesthetics, phonetics and chewing function to the patient, avoiding a situation of malocclusion and disorders in the temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ).

In general, the therapeutic process involves a healing time of 3/6 months in which osseointegration of the implant takes place in the bone before proceeding with the assembly of the crown/bridge or total prosthesis.

Benefits of dental implantology

Intervening with dental implantology in case of tooth loss is not a purely aesthetic fact: in fact, it must be reiterated that edentulism also hinders the digestive process, since the absence of one or more teeth endangers the correct grinding of food. In addition, in the long term, the absence of some teeth promotes resorption of the jaw and mandibular bones and negatively affects pronunciation skills. These are, therefore, the main consequences in our physique of edentulism, which, as mentioned, can be corrected with dental implantology.

Why is implantology preferred over other solutions?

Modern surgical protocols of dental implantology allow to minimize surgical trauma. In some selected patients, it is possible to use the immediate load implant technique, which enables the rehabilitation of one or more teeth in just 24 hours. For each specific case, a different type of dental implant can be adopted: depending on the problem, the dentist can choose a different number of implants and different materials, always taking into account that they are all completely biocompatible, thus limiting the risk. of rejection. Dental implantology makes it possible to restore the patient's correct chewing without the help of partial or total removable prosthetic structures: by avoiding the constant removal of prostheses, the risk of inflammation can be greatly increased and the problem of bone resorption can be eliminated typical for prostheses. Final solution: in most cases, they last for a lifetime after surgery (success rate is 99%)

If a missing tooth is not replaced within a short time, the adjacent teeth tend to move towards the created gap: untreated edentulism, therefore, tends to compromise the entire dental arch. Dental implants obviously prevent any harmful movement of neighboring teeth.
